Darren’s story: A future transformed

*Darren, 17, left his family home after many years of conflict and domestic violence and moved into Mission Australia’s Lemongrove Lodge. While he was enrolled in year 11 and clearly an intelligent young man, Darren was doing poorly academically and was socially isolated.

During his time with Mission Australia, Darren worked extremely hard with his case manager to set and achieve goals in relation to his education, behaviour and living skills.

His hard work payed off; Darren’s social and living skills improved significantly and he achieved a UAI of 91, making the HSC honour roll. He also received a university scholarship and moved into student housing.

Darren will continue to receive outreach case management and support from Mission Australia’s Lemongrove team who can’t wait to hear about the many achievements he’s likely to have in the future.
